The God of cricket yet again proves that he is the real God

Posted by seshdotcom on November 8, 2009

It was a earsplitting blow by sachin which made the Australians remember the Sharjah tournament.Hyderabad as always is a lucky pitch for Sachin and he had one more feather to his cap now.It is same ground where he scored the unbeaten 186 and now another score of 175 which is one of the best Innings I have seen sachin play.He silenced the critics with his huge hitting and Bludgeoning of the Aussie Bowlers. For a moment it made the crowd and the spectators think that they are going to have Kangaroo Curry for the night in at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad but unfortunately THE MASTER got out,but this innings of sachin will be remembered forever. It was more of a “man of the crunch situation” knock and I am happy that he silenced many mouths which were telling sachin is not as good as he is when the team is in a need of chasing a big score.

Thanks Sachin for the entertainment I would rate this at the top  replacing the Sharjah Desert Storm innings

Incas were the first to plant Potatoes

Posted by seshdotcom on September 20, 2009

We all know Potatoes are tuberous crops and it is very commonly used to prepare various dishes in Asia and in Europe but the astonishing fact is the Incas were the first to plant potatoes.Wiki says that the annual diet of a Person in this world is like 33Kg of Potatoes.

History of Solanum tuberosum:

It would seem that a potato is a potato  but it is not so. The most common type of potato eaten in the world today is the solanum tuberosum, which is directly traced to Inca agriculture. In fact, the solanum tuberosum
was one of several hundred potatoes and tubers grown in the Inca Empire. Today, most potatoes worldwide fall under one of about seven different potato species. In the Andes, roughly 3,000 different potato varieties are grown and sold. Lima, Peru, is home to the International Potato Center, where some 5,000 potato species have been developed.

Preparation of the spud:

The Incas cooked potatoes in stews, baked them in coals, and prepared them for storage. The Incas developed chuño, Chuno is a freeze-dried potato made by the Quenchuan Community in the Parts of Peru and Bolivia .

Process of Making Chuno:

It is Generally told as a 6 days process where the  potatoes were sliced thin and placed in neat rows outside, where they froze overnight. Each morning for several days, ice crystals were removed from the potato slices until the potatoes were dry. Freeze-dried potatoes fed Inca families through long winters and famines, and were stored in warehouses for feeding    the army or hungry citizens. They were also placed at “rest stops”(Laybies)along Inca roads to feed travelers on their trips.

Origin of Sarabeshwarar

Posted by seshdotcom on September 7, 2009

Sarabeshwarar is one of the Greatest of the Hindu deities. Why I would say this is he gives his blessings to the people who come to him for help and benedictive people have always seen that some good happens to them when they pray Lord Sarabeshwarar. It is said that people get themselves relieved from the Curse of Shani,Raghu and Kethu if you pray with full devotion.

The Greatest Avatar of Shiva

The Greatest Avatar of Shiva

How did Lord Sarabeshwarar came into the world as an avatar:

It began with the act of termination of the lives of the Brutal Daemons called Hiranyakashipu who is the Father of Baktha Prahalad and the brother of Hiranyaksha and Lord Vishnu took Narasimha Avatar and killed the ruthless daemon who was giving continuous torutre to his buff Prahalad. After this he(Vishnu)drank the blood of the Daemon and  this Avatar of Narasimha was one of the most ferocious avatar of Vishnu and the avatar made him Uncontrollable and he(Vishnu) began to destroy all the three worlds. This act of Lord Vishnu made the Indra the King of Heaven to go and sort the help of Lord Shiva.Lord Shiva sent his chief army commander Veerabadrar and some of his army men to control Narasimha. But Veerabadrar was not able to control Narasimha and having known that it is not possible Veerabadrar immediately started to pray to Lord Shiva and after that a Bright Light from Heaven reached Veerabadrar and immediately it Transformed into one of the most ferocious creature the world has ever seen with the following features:

Mouth of a Crocodile,Tail of a Serpent,Sharp and Pointed nose like that of a Bird,Kali’s Trident(Sulam),Long Wings like Birds,Jadamudi(Long Hair spiralled at the top)and this creature saved the world from the demolishing hands of Lord Narasimha

Where is Gary Joseph Pratt??

Posted by seshdotcom on July 19, 2009

Many of them may not remember Gary Joseph Pratt–The hero of the iconic “Ponting Run Out” which paved the way for the English Victory in the 4th test of the Ashes 2005.Coming to Gary he plays cricket for cumbris currently and he is a good Off-Break Bowler who can turn the ball and a very good batsman who has a century feather in his cap in the First Class/County Matches. He scored 1,055 runs in a calendar year in the first class games his top score was 150 in a match against Northhamtonshire but that was way back in 2003 after that Gary did not have a very good form to impress the selectors but however he is playing a Good game so I hope I can see him back soon

GARY PRATT

Ponting’s Run Out:

This is the important thing that made Gary very famous. It was during the 4th ashes test match when Australia were on control and Poting was looking for a big score but it was too late for ponting to reach home when the Ligtning Tracer Bullet throw by Gary from short cover disturbed the timber and this made Australia lose a very strong position and resulted in their defeat. This made ponting shout at the English dressing room when he was walking towards the Pavillion seeing Duncan Fletcher and other English Players for making a twelfth man enter the field—Actually the twelfth man came to the field due to a genuine injury to “Simon Jones”

Where is Gary Now????:

See the “Irony of fate” Gary is now working in a container company transporting heavy things like cars etc., and he is the driver of that lorry but I believe he hasn’t lost his cricket touch till now because he plays some cricket for cumbria even now and it should be ok for him to start and play his natural game when he makes a comeback to the English cricket team. Will Gary be back!!!??Only time has to answer this question

Mr.Ponting to me twelfth man when he enters a field he is also a player so please do not give lame excuses for your “Run Out”

Collingwood the Windbreak,Monty and James does it for the Barmy Army

Posted by seshdotcom on July 12, 2009

Hi this is the review of the final day of the 1st Ashes 2009 test match that took place in Cardiff..This is a match in which I enjoyed every ball and was happy finally that England Managed for a draw. What a fighback by collingwood having spent 350 minutes in the crease and he held together the English Batting and finally there was a new Hero for England in No:10 and No:11 James Anderson and Monty Panesar.

The Beginning:

This was a match that proved the Englishmens’ resistance against the Mighty Australian Attack that was dominating the game from the Beginning having won the toss put up a Good total of 470 odd runs but that was not enough to face the strong and rejuventated Australian team.Ponting scored a valiant knock of 150 and registered his eighth century in The Ashes Tournament and put on a useful partnership with Marcus North who made his second test century  which made Australia go past England’s first innings total and -Thanks to katich for his composed knock of 122 which created a good foundation for this Gargantuan total.

The Cardiff Saga:

Coming to the Last day of the test match—Johnson started to fire his deliveries from the River Taff End and just when it seemed that England were doing good Johnson gatecrashed their party mood with a Straighter one which did not have any swing and cook was found Plumb in front and he has to walk away and Hilfenhaus bowled a Superb delivery to get rid of Bopara and the Australian Bowlers likes of Siddles and the Johnsons were too good for the Englishmen and they fell on thier trap and it was collingwood who resisted their attack and faced them with a Challenge and composure–He really is a Great find for the British but he couldn’t complete the Job when he casually tried to send the ball to Third man at a good height Mr.Cricket Pulled off a catch which Broke many British Hearts at that time and task spilled over and was assigned to Monty and Anderson who became the Heros of the Match

Excited Heros

The Nailbiter:

When Monty came into the crease he had a huge task assigned to him.Now due to the loss of collingwood James Anderson became the senior partner and he wished to take most of the strike and he played Peter siddle and Nathan Hauritz to a Perfection of a middle Order Batsman and the over which I cannot forget was Peter Siddle was Begging the Umpire to give a Leg Before that was a Unforggettable Scene—‘He was appealing and pleading for 10 seconds continuously with the Umpire eventhough he was saying no :)’and ponting tried his best by giving the ball to Marcus North and he could’t penetrate Monty/James defense and finally england’s resistance paid off and the Moment which many eyes were waiting in the English Dressing room happened “The Handshakes” and then it was finally declared the Match was drawn..I am sure that Pietersen/Strauss would have lost all their nails like what David Lloyd mentioned–I bet you there are no nails left in that finger there is only flesh 🙂

Unforgettable delivery:

The Unforgettable delivery was the one that Hauritz made to turn Sharp and Anderson didn’t judge it properly decided sweep and then changed his mind and one more delivery which made a sharp turn pitching Outside Off

Crispy Scorecard —

England 435 & 252/9 (105.0 ov)–Star *Monty/James

Australia 674/6d–Star * R.T.Ponting

India Snatches a thriller and goes 2-1 UP in the series

Posted by seshdotcom on July 4, 2009

Dhoni thumbs up

Dhoni thumbs up

Intially it was a very bad news for the cricket fans when the match was about to start at the scheduled time–It looked as if Rain gods played a Spoilsport on the dreams of fans but soon the conditions returned to normal. And it was all set for the toss and it was won by the India Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and they opted to field and the overs were reduced to 27 for each team.It was a successful formula for India chasing any Gargantuan total and they decided to field first and the West Indies Openers Chris Gayle and Runako Morton took the field.–Gayle destroyes Ishant Sharma for 12 runs in the first over which included some blistering cover drives and some unorthodox shots where he puled the ball few yards  outside the off stump to a Boundary in the Onside region..Afetr Gayle fell to Nehra’s Bowling it was Sarwan who served as a Mast to the West Indian ship he took them to 186 for 7 in 27 overs thanks to the Support by Ramdin who scored 14 off 6 deliveries..

The Last Over win for India:

Indian batting line up put up a fine performance with Dinesh Kartik timing the ball superbly and Gambhir supporting him and the Partnership for the first wicket was 84 runs which was almost half of the total and after that kartik departed to a Wonderful run out by Rampaul and Gambhir gave his wicket to benn and when Yuvi fell cheaply everybody thought West Indies can easily win the match but it was MSD who proved the talent he had with a composed Knock 46(34) which made India reach home safely

The Wimbeldon Semifinal Saga Andy’s meet

Posted by seshdotcom on July 3, 2009

The Game of Power

The Game of Power

Hi there—here is a review of the Wimbeldon semifinals..The Highlights of today was a  good and competent match which took place between the British man Andy Murray and the American Andy Roddick..It was a match between Power and Determination—It finally turned to be Roddick’s day and my commiserations to Andy Murray who played a more or less equivalent game of Roddick but he wasn’t just able to resist the Thunderbolt serve of Roddick in the 4th set Tie Breaker but do not get me wrong he(murray)is a wonderful player with Subtle shots who can beat even the Best Player in this World on his day–

Thing I like with Murray–His serve return and the slicy Backhand

Things I like with Roddick–Probably the toughest serve to take is Roddick’s Serve and he plays net well

This was a superb match I saw eventhough it lasted only 4 sets one of the better match I have seen in this tournament which delineated the Will power and Quality tennis these chaps had.

Scores:6-4 ,4-6, 7-6(7), 7-6(5)

Murray you have a lots of challenges ahead so come fast I am expecting you to be crowned in US/AUSSIE open

I would like to mention one other Important person who actually have the same will power and determination like Andy Murray it is none other than Nadal but Unfortunately Nadal Pulled out of wimbeldon at the last minute due to Injury but I would say he is the Greatest Fighter the Game of tennis has ever seen

In the other match Roger Federer defeated Tommy Haas and it was a very clean finish in three sets–I don’t have  much to write about this but the other one was simply fantastic rush to youtube and see if you can pull out some of the clippings–

The williams’ sisters will meet in their finals of the Ladies Singles Wimbeldon lets see who is going to snatch the coveted trophy

The 10 year War in the Iliad

Posted by seshdotcom on June 29, 2009

The 10-year war in The
Iliad begins when Paris,
son of Trojan king Priam, is
called upon to judge a
beauty contest between
the goddesses Aphrodite,
Hera, and Athena. All
three offer Paris bribes,
but Aphrodite’s is the most
tempting. She promises
him the hand of the beautiful
Helen—who is the
wife of Menelaus, the
Greek king. Menelaus
launches an expedition to
recover her, assisted by legendary warriors
Achilles, Odysseus, Ajax, Nestor, and Menelaus’
brother Agamemnon, king of Mycenae and
commander-in-chief of the expedition. The Trojan
side is led by Hector, Paris’ brother.

This is for the people who are very new to the Hellene Stories:

Some Characters in this post:

1.Penelope:The wife of Odysseus and a symbol of devotion and fidelity

2.Odysseus:a famous mythical Greek hero

3.Ajax:A mythical Greek hero; a warrior who fought against Troy in the Iliad

4.Priam: The last king of Troy; father of Hector and Paris and Cassandra

5.Menelaus:The king of Sparta at the time of the Trojan War and also the brother of Agamemnon and more importantly husband of Helen

6.Achilles:A mythical Greek hero of the Iliad; a foremost Greek warrior at the siege of Troy

7.Nestor:A counselor to the Greeks at Troy

8.Aphrodite:Goddess of love and beauty and daughter of Zeus in ancient mythology

9.Helen: The beautiful daughter of Zeus and Leda who was abducted by Paris

10.Paris:The prince of Troy who abducted Helen from her husband Menelaus and started the trojan War

11.Athena:Goddess of wisdom and useful arts and prudent warfare; guardian of Athens

12.Hera:Sister and wife of Zeus remembered for her jealously of the many mortal women Zeus fell in love with also the queen of Olympian Gods

Other short notes on Achilles why was he weak in his heal???:

When he was a baby his mother(thetis) tried to make him immortal by bathing him in a magical river  Styx but the heel by which she held him remained vulnerable——his ‘Achilles’ heel’

Beauty contest results in war:

Hello to the Greek people!!! 🙂 I would like to write something about the 10-year war in The Iliad which was the very interesting section and the section which never Bores you and so it begins when Paris, son of Trojan king Priam(Who is also the father of Hector and Cassandra), is called upon to judge a beauty contest between the goddesses Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena. All three offer Paris bribes, but Aphrodite’s is the most tempting. She promises him the hand of the beautiful Helen—who is the wife of Menelaus, the Greek king. Menelaus launches an expedition to recover her, assisted by legendary warriors Achilles, Odysseus, Ajax, Nestor, and Menelaus’ brother Agamemnon, king of Mycenae and commander-in-chief of the expedition. The Trojan side is led by Hector, Paris’ brother.

The story narrates many conflicts within the ranks of the Trojans and the Greeks, including actions the gods frown upon that cause the battle to tilt one way or another. Finally, the long siege is ended when Achilles kills Hector. The Odyssey is an account of Odysseus’s trip home to Ithaca. It should have been a brief trip—just across the Aegean Sea and around the southern coast of Greece—but it ended up being a 10-year journey.

Along the way he and his men encountered an island inhabited by the Cyclopes, the one-eyed giant. They visited Hades(The God of death and has an army called Hades Shades), the underworld, and saw their fallen friends from the Trojan War. They put wax in their ears as they sailed past the beautiful but deadly singing of the Sirens, and farther on their ship had to sneak past a six-headed monster called the hydra. After more adventures, only Odysseus survived to return to Ithaca. He then had to reclaim his wife and kingship after a 20- year absence. In his absence, suitors had pressed his wife, Penelope, for marriage, claiming Odysseus must be dead. The Bow and arrow of Odysseus helped her to see him again and he cleared everyone

I wish to write more about Aphrodite and Achilles–In future you can see more..There is avery Big story of how the Styx river formed so stay tuned…

Other places where Henna plays a lynchpin role:

  • It is used as a windbreak in the Wineyards to prevent erosion and lessen the force of wind.

But we all know that Henna plays a Major role only as a Dyeing agent…

Bad effects of Henna according to Medical reports:

Food and Drug Administration carried out a research and it has found some drawbacks with henna they say that Henna pre-Mixed paste has been found to have ingridients of Heavy Metals like Nickel,Cobalt,Chromium,Lead which would cause considerable tampering to our skin but people are least bothered about that because henna makes you beautiful. It enhances the beauty in you..

The Runners Up of 07 egress as winners of 09

Posted by seshdotcom on June 24, 2009

For the past two weeks or so all eyes were on T20 World cup that took place in England..It was a very entertaining form of cricket which makes people fix their chair in front of the Idiot Box.There were 12 teams that competed to get this coveted trophy and everyone showed their best and used their resources well..India who were the champions of ’07 couldn’t resist the Bowling attacks likes of Parnell,Steyn,Taylor,Fidel Edwards but it was a a good fight that was put up by Indians after losing their Clinical/Principal Opener sehwag  due to Injury —who can tear any bowling attack to pieces…So all the teams had a weakness either in their Bowling or in their Batting..Sri Lanka had a very Good Bowling but their batting let them down in the finals when Dilshan Miscued a Scoop off M.Aamir..But for Pakistan on the other hand it was a tried tested and successful formula they know that the wicket will help them with the Likes of Gul who can reverse swing and bowl toe crushers at the end of the innings and they had Players like Boom Boom Shahid Afridi to take the Srilankan Bowlers far and into the stands..So I would say that Pakistan played well throughout the Tournament and they won the World Cup..My pathoses to India and Sri Lanka who were quite capable of doing the same but this world cup just did not go well….
